The St. Andrew Church, Thenyizumi celebrated its golden jubilee under the theme ‘Reconciliation and Renewal’ at the church premises, Thenyizu village under Phek district from December 20 and 21 last.
Most Rev. Dr. James Thoppil, Bishop of Nagaland graced the main celebration as the chief celebrant.
The celebration marked the unveiling of jubilee monolith by the chief celebrant and blessing by Huphutso, the oldest surviving member of the first baptized batch.
In his message, the Bishop said jubilee was a time of challenge for faith and be decisive to influence others suggesting that the need to make differences through our way of life.
He also congratulated the church for reaching the milestone along with the efforts of the pioneers.
He told the congregation to recommit their life by leading the Christian faith, live witness life and to make difference by being honest, hardworking, and sincere and live the life according to gospel life values.
He maintained that the faith has brought about many changes and mentioned the St. Andrew High School had nurtured and transformed the society with education which resulted in the upbringing of many influential and successful personalities.
Over the fifty years, he said that lots of things had change in every sphere.

In the inaugural program on December 20, greeting was shared by Catholic Association Nagaland secretary general Er. Mhaseto Nakhro, blessing and releasing of the souvenir and memento by Fr. Vemedo Joseph Kezo, director, St Joseph College Hostel, Jakhama.
