St Joseph University holds conference on bio-prospecting and conservation

Dimapur, February 7 (MExN): St Joseph University, Dimapur department of Zoology hosted two-day national conference on bio-prospecting and conservation of biodiversity for sustainable agriculture and health (BCBSAH) on February 6 and 7.

 

 

Fr Savari, PRO St Joseph University, Dimapur in a press release informed that the conference was sponsored by National Biodiversity Authority and Defence Research and Development Organization.

 

 

Dr D Gnanadurai, VC, SJU gave the Presidential Address, Dr C Raghunathan, Joint Director/Scientist- E, Zoological Survey of India delivered the inaugural address. The guest speakers were Dr Gaurav S. Dave, Department of Biochemistry, College of Basic Science and Humanities Sardr Khushinagar Dantiwada Agricultural University, Gujarat, India and Dr Satish Kumar Sang, Department of Botany, Government VYT PG. Autonomous College, Drug, Chhattisgarh, India.

 

 

Through this conference participants received knowledge on biodiversity conservation with respect to plants, animals, microorganisms and soil environment including coastal/marine and grassland and wetlands and to conserve the natural resources which in turn to satisfy the research needs for strengthening the sustainable management  branches of science that involve the scientific study of living organisms such as microorganisms, plants, animals, and human beings as well as related considerations like bioethics.
