St Joseph University Rural Camp Schedule concludes
Students of during the ‘Paper Bag Making’ session held at St. Xavier College, Jalukie on February 7.
Dimapur, February 9 (MExN): The Department of Social Work, St Joseph University, Dimapur conducted a session on ‘Disaster Risk Reduction’ followed by a session on ‘Paper Bag Making’ at St. Xavier College, Jalukie on February 7 as part of their Rural Camp Schedule.
A press release from Department of Social Work stated that for the session on ‘Disaster Risk Reduction’, Kedigong, District Project Associates, DDMA/NSDMA stated that disaster could strikes us anytime and everyone should be prepared to face it without panicking. The speaker delved in detail on the four phases of disaster i.e., mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery. The speaker also shared the dos and don’ts during disaster.
The second session on ‘Paper Bag Making’ was led by the students of MA Rural Development, Department of Social Work, St Joseph University. This session was conducted with the intention of encouraging the students to use more eco-friendly products to reduce the use of plastics.
The speaker for the session emphasised on the importance of generating an income at the grassroots couple with promoting safer environment to reduce disaster in future and also encourage the students to treat waste as their responsibility.
