Dimapur, March 5 (MExN): The Bharatiya Janata Mahila Morcha (BJMM), Nagaland State has appealed for the replacement of the incumbent BJP State President while advocating the policy of ‘one man one post.’
In a press release received here on Friday, the BJMM stated that the present party president Temjen Imna Along who is also a cabinet minister, is faced with the daunting task of carrying forwards the party’s work, organisational set up and functioning along while simultaneously managing three government departments. It said that “things have been brewing up for quite some time” within the party ranks and that there has been a lot of division amongst the party karyakatars due to the party’s defeat in the recent by-election to the 59 Pungro Assembly Constituency.
“One main reason for the defeat is that the incumbent president is not in a position to devote full time and dedication for the overall welfare and interest of the party as he has to manage three government departments simultaneously and also the fact that there was no clear instructions from the President to the party’s karyakartars for proper coordination, identification of division and management of works,” the release stated. Further, the BJMM claimed that the matter was compounded with the “lack of redressal” of pressing issues and expressed concern that the party may end up losing more seats in the 2023 general assembly elections, “if the current trend is allowed to continue.”
It also stated that many representations and memorandums were sent to central leaders to address the issue, “but sadly, there has been no positive response or outcome till date.” It further stated that the BJMM Nagaland State would be, “compelled to resort in taking extreme steps and measures,” if the incumbent president is allowed to continue.
“...BJMM Nagaland State strongly advocates for the policy of ‘one man one post’ so that whosoever the president may be, he or she has 24x7 full time dedication and devotion for the primary welfare and interest of the party,” the release stated.
