DIMAPUR, JULY 3 (MExN): The National Socialist Council of Nagaland Khaplang has sought clarification from the State Government on what it described as the “audacious participation of its police forces in providing security and transportation to the members of the Kehoi camp (from Kehoi- Zunheboto)”. “While leading members were transported to Kehoi camp, the rest of the armed members about 30 of them were dropped off at Zunheboto led by one renegade, Major Hevito Sumi of Alaphuni village”, stated a press note from the MIP of the Khaplang group.
The MIP note stated that the State Government was well aware that “Kehoi campers are only a mere collection of renegades/ defectors and expelled members from the NSCN/GPRN” and that “they, in no manner represent the Naga political struggle”. The State Government may therefore clarify to the Nagas as on what basis it is providing such security arrangements, it stated while adding that the “Kehoi campers are neither political entities nor a recognized institution of the Nagas”.
Stating that “these people have no official status with the Government of India and therefore all ceasefire mechanisms or even the peace process does not apply to them unlike the two NSCN”, the MIP note pointed out that “their so called formation is nascent and only a few weeks old counting from the day they were expelled from the NSCN (K)”.
The NSCN Khaplang went on to state that “despite all these facts the patronage being given by the State Government” was “indeed provocative and also an incitement to armed clash in the so far peacefully NSCN (K) occupied territory”. “The NSCN/GPRN shall not remain passive to such acts which encourage fratricidal violence. The State Government shall be held responsible for any eventuality”, stated the MIP note.
Further it has clarified on the “background and precedence that led to the blast at 3rd mile Dimapur”. It claimed that ever since Major Hotoi (presently the Dimapur Town Commander deputed from Kehoi) “was recruited in the NSCN (IM) till Unification, has always been in the extortion rackets, collection of taxes and also tries to monopolize the business and commercial undertakings in and around Dimapur”. “A person who is ever filled with lust to amass wealth at any cost, even at the expense of the petty businessmen can of course, not surprisingly mastermind such acts of desperation in order to snatch away the business house from a genuine trader”, it stated.
According to the NSCN Khaplang instead of admitting to his crime Major Hotoi was now “trying to shift the blame on NSCN/GPRN which is only circumstantial in nature”. “In fact blaming the two accused NSCN members Second Lt. Apuloto and Lnc.Corp Pultoto is quite ridiculous because of the fact which can be verified from their own members Cpt. Balie Angami and Second Lt. Nikhuvi Sema, who were witnesses to the presence/stationing of the accused cadres at Kohima when the incident occurred at Dimapur”.
According to the MIP note, the four members were in fact at a Pool house located in Jail Colony, Kohima and therefore the question of planting a bomb in Dimapur does not arise at all. “This fact itself will clearly suffice our position and also put to rest the allegation that the blast was carried out on the directive of Kilonser Hokato Vusshe and further executed through Deputy Secretary Akato Yeptho (in charge of finance, Dimapur)”. The MIP note stated that the allegation of its involvement was totally baseless and just an act of desperation.
The NSCN/GPRN Khaplang has also sought clarification from the Sumi Hoho on its invitation to N. Kitovi Zhimomi for the upcoming Tuluni celebration, to be held at Zunheboto. It reminded the Sumi Hoho that N. Kitovi Zhimomi is no longer the Ato Kilonser of the NSCN/GPRN under Khaplang’s leadership and that the “changed scenario” compelled the NSCN/GPRN (Khaplang) to question the Sumi Hoho as to whether N. Kitovi Zhimomi is being invited in his own personal capacity as a Sumi citizen or in his previous position as the Ato Kilonser of the NSCN/GPRN.
