Dimapur, February 4 (MExN): The government of Nagaland condole the demise of Additional Secretary Raj Kumar Verma who passed away February 3 in Delhi after prolonged illness. Condolence messages addressed to Narola Verma, bereaved wife of the demise official, were received here today from the Governor, Chief Minister and the Chief Secretary of Nagaland.
In his message addressed to the bereaved wife of the official, Governor of Nagaland Nikhil Kumar called Verma a ‘conscientious’ public servant. “I am deeply grieved to hear the sad news of the sudden demise of your husband Shri Raj Kumar Verma. He was a charming person who made his mark as a conscientious public servant,” Governor Nikhil Kumar said in his message.
“His contribution to the people of Nagaland in various assignments will be remembered for ever. I convey my heartfelt condolences to you all and pray to the Almighty to grant you strength to bear this irreparable loss and that he may rest on peace,” Governor Kumar said.
Likewise, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio expressed pain at the demise of the government official. “(He was) a highly innovative, brilliant and well-read officer; the contributions made by him in the areas of environment conservation and overall development of rural economy of Nagaland will be long remembered,” the Chief Minister said.
Verma was also a recipient of the Governor’s Commendation Certificate for Meritorious Service in 1987.
“In his death, the Chang community and the Nagas in general and the NCS and NEPeD in particular have indeed lost a very capable, sincere and a dedicated officer,” the Chief Minister said.
“In this hour of grief and sorrow, my wife joins me in conveying our heartfelt condolence to the members of the bereaved family and prays to God Almighty to grant them solace and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss. May the departed soul rest in eternal peace.”
Chief Secretary of Nagaland Lalthara has also expressed deep shock and sadness at the demise of Raj Verma. “Raj Verma has been one of the most outstanding and versatile officer we have in Nagaland and has been at the core of most of the government’s brainstorming sessions on the state’s futuristic visions and many creative strategies for dealing with issues of global significance such as global warming and Climate Change strategies,” Lalthara said in his message.
“His untimely death is indeed a great loss to the state government and the people of Nagaland as a whole. The void left by him would be difficult to fill. I send my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and pray that God would grant them the strength and peace of mind to bear this tragedy,” the Chief Secretary stated.
