State launches Elector Photo ID Campaign

Kohima | June 1 : The first Photography of Photo Electoral Rolls (PER) and Elector Photo Identity Card (EPIC) 2011 in Nagaland was launched today by Nagaland State Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio and his family members with the collection of images at his residential office this morning. Addressing media persons, Rio said that EPIC campaign has being completed in all the States in India except in Assam and Nagaland. He said that having completed the Census 2011 successfully, the state is in a position to take correct measures and go ahead with the EPIC campaign. Stating that the exercise is mandatory for all eligible citizens, the Chief Minister appealed to all civil societies, churches, NGOs and concerned citizens to participate in the campaign.
The Elector Voter Identity Card can be used for availing many functions like obtaining Pan Card, LPG collection etc and as proof of ID check-in in the Airports and in Railway Station. The Chief Minister called upon all to take the exercise seriously, which would also check manipulation in the electoral roll.
