Kohima, November 27 (MExN): The State level angikaar 10k Marathon run was held in Kohima today as part of the angikaar campaign under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Housing for all (Urban) Mission, which is implemented by Municipal Affairs Department, Nagaland.
The event was initiated under the health and fitness vertical of ‘angikaar’ –a campaign for change management.
As part of angikaar campaign for change management, the 10k run is one of the State Level IEC activities initiated to create awareness amongst citizens about health & fitness.
The10 k run is devised to promote a much needed platform for ‘Fitness focussed individuals’ in the state and enable them to become role models for the public.
The event saw the participation of 43 runners with 30 runners in the Men category and 13 runners in the Women category.
S. Takatuba Aier, additional director & HoD, Municipal Affairs Department flagged off the run from Indira Gandhi Stadium and it culminated at the Police Headquarters Junction, Kohima.
Briefing was made by Nchumthung Ovung (IEC, Specialist, SLTC, PMAY-U).
In the Men Category, Cuvoto Medeo who finished the course in 22 minutes 25 seconds was declared the winner of the run followed by Thsapongki Sangtam in 23 minutes 5 seconds in second position.
In the Women’s Category, Talisenla Longkumer completed the course in 39 minutes followed by Viboli in 40 minutes 47 seconds.
Kumari Kevilenuo Solo, Assistant Director & State Nodal Officer, PMAY (U) chaired the prize distribution ceremony.
Medals and cash prize of Rs.6,000 and Rs.4,000 were awarded to the first and second respectively in both men and women category, which was handed over by S Takatuba Aier, Addl. Director & HOD, Municipal Affairs Department and Temjensangla, State Mission Director, PMAY (U)& Deputy Secretary to the Government of Nagaland.
Temjenrenla Kechu, Deputy Director, Municipal Affairs Department handed over prizes to youngest participant Mancha Pansa and the oldest participant Pusanyu Rupreo, a retired secretary of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly.
