Students’ Organization to help in realizing SSA project

DIMAPUR, May 5 (MExN): The DNSU in collaboration with the NSF has started issuing questionnaires to all the village authorities, students’ union leaders, teachers and churches for assessing the success rate of the ongoing SSA projects, which is initiated by the center with an objective of universalizing the elementary education and to bring all drop out students back to school.

At a brief gathering today, the DNSU said that the proposed survey work will also focus on the presence of proxy teachers, and whether the Mid-day meals are being provided in all the primary level schools. It will also investigate the implementation of all the other incentives, grants-in-aid accorded by the government.

NSF Speaker Wairok Hansing speaking to the gathering at the DSNU office, however, expressed confidence that the SSA project which has been in the state for quite some time would be a successful one.

“This project is not targeted for a few section of people but to all the sections in order to bring about a change in the society in the education field”, he asserted, and while making an appeal to all concerned for cooperation so as to bring the said project to reality.

Further, the NSF called upon the Gaon Borahs, Village Council, Students’ union, Teachers and Church to immediately identify out-of-school children’s in their respective area and put them back to school.

In addition to SSA programme, the student body with an aim to create awareness among the village students has proposed setting up of a Red Ribbon Club in every area/village. The club to be formed under the union will be supported by the Nagaland State Aids Control Society (NSACS). Dr. Imcha Civil Hospital Dimapur also addressed the gathering on the topic relating to HIV/AIDS.

Representatives from SSA and NSACS along with other social organizations attended the meeting convened by the DNSU in collaboration with the NSF.
