‘Students with quality education are national builder’

The Sangtam Students’ Union, Kohima (SSUK) 27th Freshers’ meet-cum-observation of Mongmong festival was held today at the State Academy Hall, Kohima with C. Kipili Sangtam, MLA & Chairman Nagaland State Mineral Development Corporation (NSMDC) as the chief guest.

Speaking on the occasion, Sangtam urged the students gathered to aim at becoming a professional in their respective opted subjects rather than simply obtaining a general degree which is ultimately becoming unfavorable in the present context. He said, students with quality education are as good as a ‘national builder’ and such students are no more a person with destructive ideology rather pursuing with a vision of bright future. Stating that maintaining a firm economic condition during their student life as very important, Sangtam appealed every student present to be strict with their budget while pursuing their studies. One who does not respect the sweat and toils of their parents, who without any reservation sacrifice their lives for the bright prospect of their children, would face trouble at the later consequences, he added. 

Stressing on the importance of internet he said, any events happen anywhere in and around the world could be access at any moment by browsing the internet. The world termed as global village was announce following the availability of internet adding it become a teacher of every individual and the leader of the society as well. He said that to cope up with the advancement of science & technology, one need to equip with the basic knowledge of internet adding that the quality education stands as the sole facilitator in this regard.

Expressing his regret over the cancellation of the proposed Kiphire District Road Show which was to be coinciding with the Sangtam premier festival Mongmong, the MLA said the cancellation was done by the government of Nagaland following the law and order situation prevailing at Kiphire. Sangtam while making a humble petition to the entire Sangtam community to keep themselves calm further urged the NGOs not to have any argument with any community whatsoever in this regard. He said that the problems does not lie with the community as of now however the final settlement over the crisis would be resolved by the state government, thereby he urged them to be patient with the state decision. Sangtam while conveying the greetings of Mongmong festival further wished that people of the day gathered specially the students’ community would enjoy the feast of Mongmong.

MLA & Chairman MARCOFED, C. L. John who accompanied Sangtam, in his short address urged the student community to strive hard and attain quality education in order to compete with the rest of the world. Praising the Sangtam community for being the guiding star of his political career John said he is no doubt part of the Sangtam community.

The president of SSUK while felicitating the meritorious students’ urged them to be more dedicated, sincere in their studies and bring more fame and laurels to the community. Lirichum, president of Sangtam Union Kohima Town (SUKT) also exhort the gathering during the occasion. Earlier, the function was chaired by Rose Mary, Finance Secretary, SSUK, scripture reading and prayer was invoked by K. Sentinaro, Associate pastor, SBLK, special numbers were presented by Yinphire village students’ union and students’ from Japfu Christian College, the union yearly rapport was given by general secretary SSUK. The day function was wind up with Mongmong feast at the State Academy hall premises.
