DIMAPUR, JULY 13 (MExN): The GPRN/NSCN has informed that the “emergency meeting of the Sumi National workers held on 29th June 2011 at Heritage hall Zunheboto town, which declared support for expelled Chairman S.S Khaplang and widely published in the local dailies” is being withdrawn by the signatories for it “neither reflected the opinion of the signatories nor serves the purpose for the Sumi people in particular or the Nagas in general”.
According to the Signatories, on 29th June 2011, the emergency meeting was called to deliberate on the prevailing situation after the expulsion of S.S Khaplang. According to a press note issued by the MIP the “misguided elements at Suruhuto Camp threatened all GPRN/NSCN civil administration to immediately leave Sumi Region by 7:00 A.M 30th June if they owe their allegiance to Chairman Gen. Khole Konyak and Gen. Secy N Kitovi”. The MIP note informed that the “K group sent their men at different entry points on the outskirt of Zunheboto town to intercept Tatar Huvito Yepthomi, the caretaker Chairman of Sumi Region, moving to Zunheboto from Dimapur after medical treatment”.
“The treachery of few Sumi leaders became clear and sensing the tension in the air, the caretaker Chairman called an emergency meeting to diffuse the situation”, the MIP note stated while adding that the “Sumi region challans, documents and cash were seized by misguided K elements prior to arrival of caretaker Chairman from Dimapur”. The meeting attendance sheet was taken away and the next day Sumi region supporting S.S Khaplang was flashed in the local dailies, it stated.
The GPRN/NSCN stated that it “would be foolish to think that Indo-Naga political problem will be solved by individuals residing in the jungles of Burma, Bhutan and Bangladesh etc” and that the “Sumi National workers will stay firm and unflinching to the correct political stand taken by Chairman Gen. Khole Konyak and General Secretary N Kitovi Zhimomi, who have clearly endorsed the dream and vision of the Naga people”.
“Only God the Almighty, creator of the universe is worshipped, obeyed and followed without His physical presence. For too long, S.S Khaplang’s dictatorial orders from Burma deviated from Naga people’s aspiration in western Naga homeland”, the MIP stated. GPRN/NSCN Sumi Regional workers can never be forced to endorse an expelled leader who lives in Burma and claims to love Nagaland, it further stated.
The Sumi regional authorities has therefore clarified that the GPRN/NSCN Sumi Region is intact and committed to the Naga National cause under the Leadership of Chairman Gen. Khole and Gen Secretary N Kitovi Zhimomi and that there is no question of Sumi National workers supporting S.S Khaplang. “We, therefore denounce and withdraw the statement published on 30th June 2011 in the name of Khaplang group”.
