More than a week after the NSCN (K) cautioned Sumi Hoho vice president, Kitoho Rotokha for being an “outspoken activist of Khehoi camp” asking him to resign or face “dire consequences,” there was a sense of relief after Sumi frontal organizations met the NSCN leadership at Suruhuto on Friday, January 6.

Office bearers of Sumi Hoho, Sumi Totimi Hoho and All Sumi Students’ Union were engaged in talks for around six hours with the NSCN (K) members led by “Lt. Gen” Niki Sumi and Sumi region chairman, Nitovi.

Speaking over phone, Sumi Hoho secretary, Vihuto said though “final clearance” was yet to be given by NSCN (K) over its caution notice to Kitoho, it was made clear in the meeting that there was no need for further apprehension on the issue. “They (NSCN-K) cited organizational procedures to give final clearance immediately but told us not to worry and go in peace,” Vihuto said. It was stated that final clearance was to come from the higher authority of the NSCN (K). He said, as demanded, the vice president tendered resignation but was turned down by the Sumi Hoho executive and other Sumi frontal organizations which did not deem fit the circumstances that led to the vice president submitting the resignation letter. He said it was relayed that the vice president was speaking in the capacity of a representative of Sumi Hoho and not on his individual capacity. Beside this particular issue, the two sides also discussed other pertinent issues and exchanged opinions on it.
