Suruhuto, February 5 (MExN): The 24th session of Suruhuto/Asuto area VDB and VCC conference held at Achikuchu village was graced by Advisor for Tourism, Art and Culture H Khehovi Yeputhomi as special guest on February 3.
The PS to the advisor in a press release said that speaking at the conference, the Advisor lauded the SAVDB Association for always initiating annual conference to interact and discuss various topics related to the village development. Speaking about the formation of Suruhuto/Asuto VDB Association by him, the advisor said he as a Block Development Officer (BDO) way back in the year 1998 had the vision for all village VDB Secretaries and VCC under Suruhuto constituency to annually sit together in such conferences and share their village activities, ideas, grievances and achievements, so that all villages may successfully implement government scheme, programs and policies through each other’s experiences.
“VDB Secretaries and VCC should conduct timely village workshops and seminars to educate and encourage them about handicrafts to develop the sense of self reliance,” the advisor suggested. He also told the VDB/VCC to educate villagers about cultural values, how to preserve and promote traditional attires and also to preserve folktales and folklore.
Villagers should not fully depend on government schemes and funds for their livelihood because the government policies, programs and village fund allocation keeps changing, he added.
