Nagaland’s Governor RN Ravi today told the floor of the House that the Taxation Department has collected tax revenue of Rs 433.45 crore from April-October 2019, as against the collection of Rs 375.99 crore during the same period last year.
In his address, Ravi said that the tax revenue is most likely to achieve the target of Rs 631.55 crore for 2019-20.
He informed that the Nagaland State Lotteries is also likely to earn revenues in excess of Rs 23 crore this year, which would be higher than the amount earned last year.
“However, we need to keep in mind that our revenue generation is far short of the expenditure that we need to incur for our developmental and non development activities,” he said.
Keeping this in view, he said the government is exploring more avenues for resource generation to fund the developmental activities. Efforts are also being made to intensively carry out exercises for rationalizing the employees, so that revenue expenditure is brought down and more funds are made available for development expenditure, he said.
