The computerized ticket reservation and cancellation if any, of the same, at the Dimapur Railway has not been functioning since the last 2 days and yet, the railways officers and authorities haven’t made any concrete effort to rectify the problem. This has caused much inconvenience and is causing undue troubles to passengers and commuters who otherwise would have met their personal travel datelines or kept their appointments. The reservation and the cancellation machine was not functioning when the railway officers came back to work in the afternoon on March 14 after Holi. It was informed that the concerned railway officers had claimed the cause of the breakdown/non-functioning device to a failure in the “link.”
The railway officers, however, today giving a different version maintained that it was not link failure but ‘technical problem’ in the reservation and cancellation machine which is expected to continue till tomorrow it was informed. The Chief Reservation Officer, Dimapur railway told The Morung Express through phone that there have been some technical problems since the last two days and that it will take about a day’s time to rectify the problem which is expected to remain till tomorrow.
Many passengers, who came to reserve and cancel tickets, were seen grumbling over the inefficiency of the Dimapur Railway Department, which is the second highest revenue earner after Guwahati among railway departments in the North East region of India. Some passengers were also seen raising their voice over the inconveniences caused by the technical problems or “link failure.” Furthermore, passengers have been reported to be traveling to Lumding, Assam the nearest station from Dimapur either to reserve or cancel their tickets.
