Extends greeting to Chang community on ‘Poanglüm’
Kohima, January 12 (MExN): Minister for higher education & technical education and tribal affairs and Nagaland BJP president Temjen Imna Along graced the 8th Japukong Youth Meet 2020 in Longchem on January 11 last.
Speaking on the occasion, Temjen said that there were misunderstandings and oppositions at all levels, down to individuals.
In this, the minister urged the crowd especially the youth not to hunt for easy money or try to grab opportunities through backdoors but focus on their goals with ‘hard work attitude.’
Students should study diligently for academic excellence, he said.
For interested youth in the field of volleyball, the minister announced to institute a Corpus Fund of Rs 5 lakh which will be used to coach and train both men and women enthusiasts in all the villages under Japukong for which JYO was asked to take the initiative.
The 8th Japukong Youth Meet 2020 volleyball championship trophies were bagged by Alongtaki men's Team and Japu Women team.
Meanwhile, the minister extended greetings to the Chang community for the forthcoming "Poanglüm" festival.
It is a post harvest festival and for this year, it will be a part of the mini hornbill festival in Tuensang town from January 13 to 15.
“This winter festival is a time to celebrate the blessing of sufficiency after the annual harvest and a time to nurture and pass down the tradition and culture of Chang community to the upcoming young generation,” Temjen said.
The minister also conveyed his deepest regards and prayer to the Chang community to celebrate the Poanglüm festival in pomp and peace to acknowledge the God of all blessings. May the community enjoy a blissful, bountiful year, the minister added.
