
Bhandari | August 15 : A 40 years man identified as Habil Ali from Assam was found dead between Sunglup and Lakhuti village under Wokha district yesterday around 4.00 pm. Sources said that the deceased was believed to be a butcher from Assam (Merapani) who went to dispose cows at Lakhuti village along with other two friends. Two of the victim’s friends were kept in Bhandari Police station under suspicion. On receiving news of the death, friends, relatives and friends (Assam) got agitated and detained 6 Nagas boys (3 from Bhandari village and 3 from Mishangpen village) who were on their way home from Chennai. In retaliation, another mob at Bhandari also detained 15 Assamese youth. Interestingly both the detained parties are reported to be in police custody now. The Border Magistrate of Bhandari disclosed that he and the Border Magistrate of Assam were at the CRPF camp and discussed the matter. A decision was taken to release both the parties this evening. While the accused are yet to be apprehended, the Assam mob has reportedly damaged construction materials and a vehicle. There are no reports of human casualty.
