The Argumentative Nagas: Heralding a New Lexicon of Thought

The Nagas since antiquity has been seen as a race clad with little or no clothes. Nagas find mention in other chronicles and works of western scholarship, and the sentiments attached to it sometimes become debatable and redundant. The growing indigenous scholars and commentators in various field sometimes debunks various myths that are associated with the Nagas, which can be seen as rather applaudable by the general populace. In the fast growing age of AI, where the surface level comprehension outpace the in-depth scholarship, many Nagas succumb to misinformation and disinformation, hence a quite disheartening backdrop is forged unwittingly in the crucible of ignorance- shaped by what it does not understand. In the midst of all these happenings some are relentlessly trying to forge and build a better society for the present and for the posterity. Props to them!

The relentless dialectics and writings on Naga history, culture and identity can shape and reshape the contour of the perceived notion, propelling towards a more humane milieu. Needless to say, the initiation process may find rather formidable, but with sheer belief and perseverance the Nagas can create a better place and world than yesterday, and better than today. The proliferation of various factions fighting for the same cause of self-determination can sometimes make the general populace befuddled, whilst leaving the core issues on the backburner unwittingly, losing sight of core values under the lure of the carrot-and-stick policy. And from the lens of a layman, it seems to be veering into a parochial road. With the aim of unification it’s reportedly that FNR and various tribal hohos with the existing factions agreed on the terms that no further splinter groups will be recognised henceforth. In the words of Mahatma Gandhi, “means should be as pious as ends” which emphasize the overall virtuousness. In a similar vein, if the statesman of the respected and towering leaders of the Nagas can emulate the philosophy of Gandhi and predicate the nation on the precepts of scripture, presumably Nagas can weather any forces and can reach the apogee.

If a sizeable population can propel the remaining masses, turning the pitch to the argumentation of History, culture and identity our land would rise to the fore in any given length and breadth, making a force to be reckon with and gradually becoming a paradise in all respects. In summation, a nation build and construct with sweat, efforts and perseverance can withstand any tides however mighty it seems to be. Blending both realist and idealist approach, crafting for a better and sustainable future will have enormous impact in the marathon run.
