Therie questions NPF Prez, CM on Naga issue

Dimapur, November 24 (MExN):  Former Finance Minister in the previous NPF regime K Therie today called the Naga People’s Front (NPF) a party of “government class-I contractors from Kohima district” and an autocratic “private company” known much for flip-flopping on the Indo-Naga political dialogue.
Congress leader Therie, who is the Convener, Political Affairs Committee, NPCC said in a note today: “On one hand he (Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio) says that the ‘talks are progressing’ and on the other hand he says, “It is not known in what manner it is progressing’. In another line he says, ‘We are very clear that we have not been informed and we have no knowledge’. Mr. Rio is a confirmed confused person having lots of corrupt money who has acquired unaccountable properties from unknown sources of income.”
They both are talking about the Nagaland Political problem, Therie said, and perhaps for the first time Neiphiu Rio has attempted to say that they are playing the role of ‘active facilitator’ to the Naga peace process. In the note, the former Finance minister of the NPF said both Dr. Shurhozelie and Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio love to talk about the Naga political problem. Not without stumbling though, Therie explains:
The Nagaland Congress party’s Convener of Political Affairs Committee said Dr. Shurhozelie and “Mr. Rio” could not understand that Naga underground and “overground” society have fractured into pieces during their governance. “It proves that the people are not comfortable under their biased leadership. The people are not happy with the paternalistic, manipulative and dictatorial leadership habits they practice,” Therie said.
In reality, he stated, “it is because of this benefit” that they do not want peace and solution and therefore have no suggestion.” “Facilitation and support are the layman’s capacity. They are neither vision nor suggestion. All these long years of their leadership in the state, I have not heard of any vision statement or suggestions to a political solution. Further, while they continue to utter integration.”
Congress leader K Therie also congratulated NPF president Dr. Shurhozelie for being nominated as chief of the regional party. However, Therie explains in the note: “The Election Board of NPF is appointed by Dr. Shurhozelie, President, NPF, to nominate him as President, NPF.  In reality, NPF is the private company of Dr. Shurhozelie and all other gentlemen in the party are his ‘yes-men’. They have no voting rights. Anybody who raises his voice against the President is sure to have his wings clipped by the President so they all had better be careful.”
On the NPF’s statement that its entry into Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur is not with intention to alter state boundaries, Therie responded by saying that “In the heart of heart, it is with intent to win support. It is high time that the people understand them.”
Therie practically concentrated on the “resolutions” of the recent convention of the NPF party.
“In my view, DAN Government is a Government of Class – I Government contractors of which 80% are from Kohima district and 80% of these are from Northern Angami 1 and 2 Assembly Constituencies exploiting the economies of all the backward districts and the State in general,” Therie stated.
Secondly, the Congress leader explained, manipulation of jobs in all the departments and failure to implement the Job Reservation Policy effectively are the main causes besides ‘political bias and negligence.’ Harmony, unity and cooperation can only come when there is equal opportunity in the state, he said.
