School of Agricultural Sciences (SAS), Nagaland University, Medziphema Campus, organised a one-day interactive session on entrepreneurship on the theme “Motivating the Next Generation of Entrepreneurs” on May 16.
Medziphema, May 19 (MExN): The School of Agricultural Sciences (SAS), Nagaland University (NU), Medziphema Campus, organised a one-day interactive session on entrepreneurship on the theme “Motivating the Next Generation of Entrepreneurs” on May 16 under the ICAR–TSP project, “Development of Soft Skills, Professional Business and Entrepreneurial Skills to Enhance Employability among Students.”
The formal session was chaired by Dr Debika N, Assistant Professor SAS, NU while brief remarks were delivered by Dr Mary N Odyuo, Associate Professor SAS, NU. They encouraged students to actively participate in the sessions and make meaningful use of the learning opportunity provided through the project.
The technical team was led by Kevisato Sanyü, Founder of NagaEd, an educational and youth-oriented organization from Nagaland working toward innovation, skill development and accessible learning opportunities for students and educators. Accompanying him were members of the NagaEd team including Aonok Aier, Head of Projects & Learning Excellence; Dr Kitila Walling, Project Coordinator; Rovikhono Savino, Executive Assistant; Nukshitula Ozukum, HR & Admin Manager; and Tiasenla, Marketing Executive.
The resource person, Kevisato shared reflections from his entrepreneurial journey and encouraged students to look beyond limitations and develop the confidence to pursue opportunities. Speaking on entrepreneurship and mindset, he emphasized that growth often begins when individuals overcome the fear of failure and allow themselves the freedom to learn through experience. He also highlighted that entrepreneurship is not merely about starting businesses but about creativity, resilience, innovation and identifying opportunities even with limited resources.
An important highlight of the programme was the practical and interactive activities conducted by Aonok Aier along with the NagaEd team. Through DISC personality assessment exercises, self-awareness activities and leadership-based group interactions, students explored different communication styles, behavioural traits, teamwork approaches and leadership qualities. The sessions witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and created an engaging learning environment focused on personal and professional development.
The programme also highlighted the growing importance of entrepreneurship and innovation in agriculture and allied sectors in Nagaland. Students were encouraged to recognize local resources, indigenous knowledge and emerging opportunities in agri-based enterprises and rural development.
The programme concluded with interaction, reflection and a question-and-answer session, leaving participants inspired to approach entrepreneurship as a means toward innovation, leadership and meaningful contribution to society.
The programme was conducted under the sponsorship of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) through the Scheduled Tribe Sub Plan and has been running since February 2025. The initiative is facilitated by Damaso Digital Solutions Pvt. Ltd. through The Study Falcon platform. The project is headed by Prof Akali Sema as Coordinator, with Prof KK Jha serving as ICAR Nodal Officer. Dr Mary N Odyuo is the Principal Investigator (PI), while Dr Debika N and Dr Sentirenla are Co-Principal Investigators (Co-PIs) of the project.
