Thürütsuswümi (Phek)| December 20: The 39th general session of Thürütsuswümi Students’ Union (TSU) was held on December 20, 2011 under the theme “Towards the new horizon” with former president of Naga Students’ Federation Mütsikhoyo Yhobu as the main speaker.
Speaking on the occasion, Yhobu said one should have the determination and dedication to excel in life and become successful.Yhobu encouraged the students to devote more time in achieving quality education so that the village, though considered among most backward areas, can come at par with other advanced areas.
He asserted that it all depends on how one takes up their own community, while expressing that it is high time that remote villages should work towards overcoming the backward tag. He said, if we continue to think that we lack behind then others and sit back without doing anything, we will continue to have the inferiority complex and remain the same.
Yhobu also encouraged parents and guardians not to put pressure on their children but provide them with better opportunity to pay attention towards their education, which will ultimately help them in building a better future. He cited that working in the field may provide their daily need but once their children get better education and qualify for government and other services, their economy would improve and have an easier life.
He also called upon the youngsters not to simply follow the foreign culture like the Korean or Western styles without knowing any background of the culture. Yhobu said it is always better to uphold one’s own tradition and culture and maintain simplicity. He said that being students, they should have discipline and dedication in life.
Dwelling on the impact of global warming and climate change, he called upon the villagers to preserve and protect the bio-diversity and also stop hunting of wild animals.
Yhobu, who is also the Tribunal General of NSF extended warm festive greetings from the office of NSF and wished them a blessed Christmas and prosperous New Year 2012.
