Mon, December 5 (MExN): The 31st Anniversary of World AIDS Day 2019 was jointly observed by Turning Point Organization (TPO), Tizit Village Students’ Union and District AIDS Prevention and Control Unit (DAPCU) with support from NSACS under the theme “Communities make the difference” on December 1.
The significance of the day was shared by Mongnyei K, DIS, DAPCU. He said that this year’s theme focused on recognition of invaluable contribution by communities towards AIDS response at different level, said a press release from DPO, DAPCU Mon.
S Pohwang K, Angh, Tizit village who graced the occasion as guest speaker acknowledged the organizers for observing the day and encouraged them to carry out more awareness programme on HIV among the general population.
The Angh also expressed love and concern for those living with HIV and assured support in all possible ways.
Rupin Sharma, IPS, ADGP Boarder Affairs spoke on proper education for prevention of HIV. He said that one should not be discriminated because of HIV status but should show love and care to those who are living with it. He further said that favorable environment should be created for people living with HIV.
Short speeches were delivered by Peibong K, President, Konyak Union, Tizit Area; Nokai K, President, Tizit Village Students’ Union and Major Jitender Singh, Commander, Territorial Army. Students of St Francis School, Tizit presented a short play.
The programme was chaired by Monglong K, which began with prayer by Nokton, Pastor, Tizit Village Baptist Church. Vote of thanks was delivered by Ompha, Programme Manager.
