
Dimapur, January 30 (MExN): The village councils of three villages under Phek district - Kotisu,Tuzatse and Kizari, have appealed the State Government to shift the propose site of Tizu River Hydro Project to move above the Tizu River and Tuzaru junction.
The three villages also disagreed with the reported statement made by Nagaland’s Planning & Coordination, Land Revenue and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Neiba Kronu in the State Assembly on November 26, 2021 that land issue for the project has been resolved.
Kronu then reportedly said that land issue has been resolved with the support of Chakhesang Public Organization and Chakhesang Youth Front.
The concerned department had never made any formal talk and agreement with the neighbouring Terrace Paddy Field Land owners of Tuzaru river valley, the three villages stated in its rejoinder. It is the only sole bread earner of terrace cultivation for Kotisu, Tuzatse and Kizari Village respectively, it said.
It further implied that any solution undertaken without ‘knowledge and knowing reality’ would not “bring any healthy solution.”
It also indicated that the concerned department must be bear responsible for “anything havoc and damage cause (d)” for a link without the consent and approval of the concern and approval of the concern villagers.
In this connection, the rejoinder appended by Village Council Chairman (VCC) of Tuzatse, Vechita Tetseo; VCC Kizari Village, Kuvedu Chizo and VCC Kotisu Nuvocho Chizo appealed the State Government to shift the proposed site to move above the Tizu River and Tuzaru junction.
Speaking to The Morung Express, one of the signatories informed that the villages are not against the project itself but urging the State Government to have a clear agreement on the issue. It was further learnt that the villages were not informed of the possible extend of damages and assessment from the proposed project.
