Mangkolemba, October 25 (MExN): The Tsürangkong Kaketshir Mungdang (TKM), on October 25, closed down all schools and Educational Block Resource Centre (EBRC) under its jurisdiction. The action was initiated after the expiry of TKM’s 15 days ultimatum served to the Department of School Education on October 10 demanding deployment of appropriate number of teachers in schools under Tsürangkong, one of the six ranges under Mokokchung district.
On expiry of the ultimatum dateline on October 24 without non-response from the department, the Union has initiated the course of action, informed a press release from the TKM President Imlisunep. The mode of protest may be altered if no positive response from the concerned department, it added.
