Kohima, May 9 (MExN): Nagaland citizens can now call toll free number 18003450019 to speak to doctors or get a call back from them for information on COVID 19 or any other health related issues. The Department of Health and Family Welfare launched a toll free ‘tele health line’ through which citizens can speak to the doctors directly for advice. According to a press release from Implementation Officer Dr C Tetseo, the COVID-19 pandemic has created an unprecedented situation as a result of which many hospitals are converted to COVID hospitals. Private hospitals and clinics are not running at full capacity and also due to restriction imposed on movement because of the lockdown, many people could be facing problems related to COVID or health issues, the release stated. It stated that ignorance and misinformation could lead to dangerous situation during this crisis and “in view of this, the Health and Family Welfare Department has enrolled doctors working in the state both in government and private set up, and also our Naga students who are doing post graduate or working outside the state as they have come forward to render their volunteer service in this time of crisis.” Further, the Implementation Officer encouraged the citizens to make good use of the facility from the comfort of their homes and share the number among themselves. The caller can speak to the doctors directly or get a call back from them depending on the IVR option chosen. The service is available in both English and Nagamese.
