PAWF Nagaland is set to hold its 5th Fitness Festival on November 5 after a hiatus of three years, at Don Bosco ground, Dimapur.

Towards a movement for 'fitter Nagaland' since 2015, PAWF Nagaland aims to empower and educate the Naga society to the world of fitness through this annual event.

Speaking to the media fraternity at a press conference held at Hotel Saramati today, PAWF Nagaland Managing Director, Tain said that the event is powered by Hope Academy and Spring Blossoms Academy.

When the PAWF team began their 'little but real dream for fitter Nagaland movement'  in 2015, there were hardly two gyms in the city, hence it was more of a fitness awareness programme than a fitness festival that year, she said. Over the years, the team has developed it into a fitness festival and this edition has bigger platform with inter-school group exercise competition as well. Six schools will be partaking in the competition, while interested schools who have just begun their fitness journey with PAWF Nagaland will be taking part in the opening ceremony.

The one-day event will begin from 11:00 am with an opening ceremony and culminate at around 9:00 pm with entertainment, featuring popular Naga artistes such as Moko Koza, Sunep Lemtur and more.

There will be a fitness battle which will be open to all in three categories: push-up (standard) men/women; arm wrestling men/women with categories above 65kg & below 65 kg; push-up burpees men/women. PAWF team informed that the fitness battle is officiated by the Nagaland Bodybuilding & Fitness Association. The winning prizes are being sponsored by gyms across the state, with Rs 5000 each in all the three categories.

Gyms across Nagaland will also be competing in the tug of war for the champion prize of 15k and a trophy.

The day will also witness a two and a half-hour rigorous training with PAWF trainers in the category of zumba fitness, Lesmills body combat, strong nation, PAWF hard-core, body balance and dance fitness.

Lead master-trainer and CEO Talitemjen said that the event aims to provide countless opportunities for creating a better and healthier lifestyle catering to all age groups, capability, and strength. It will draw athletes, fitness enthusiasts and spectators from around the state.

The vision is to break stereotypes and inculcate fitness as a way of life early on, starting from children. That is why we have started working with schools, added Tain. She said that two schools namely Hope Academy and Spring Blossoms Academy are advocating fitness by supporting this cause in many ways, with Hope Academy being a partner from the beginning.

Talitemjen also clarified that the fitness festival is being organised not to promote the gyms or any health club but to highlight basic exercises which can be done at home to take care of one's health. "We are sure that you will agree with us towards a fitter Nagaland," he added. The team has wlecomed all the citizens to be a part of this event and expects around 3 thousand turn up in the event.

The entry fee for students will be Rs 50 and Rs 100 for adults. There will be local stalls, nutrition guide and first aid counter by Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research (CIHSR). Screening for diabetes and hypertension will also be available at the event.
