Zunheboto, January 30 (MExN): An awareness campaign under the National Leprosy Eradication Programme (NLEP) was launched in Zunheboto on January 30, with the vision to join hands for a Nagaland that is free from leprosy.

Launching the campaign at the District Tuberculosis Office, Zunheboto, the District Programme Officer and DTO (UIP & RCH) Dr Y Aron Muru highlighted on the significance of leprosy and encouraged the NLEP staff to be active and regular in their field visits so that leprosy does not re-emerge again though it has been eradicated from the district.

Stating that leprosy is completely curable and early treatment prevents disability, he also said that treatment is available for free in all Government Health Centres.
