Lifestyle Utility Vehicle – Toyata Hilux launched in India on January 22.

Dimapur, January 23 (MExN): The Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM), on January 22, launched its Lifestyle Utility Vehicle – Hilux in the Indian market.
Hilux was launched to cater to the needs of customers seeking a “lifestyle utility vehicle that is best suited for off-roading adventure drives on tough terrains, and everyday city use,” informed TKM in a media release.
The name Hilux, which is derived from ‘high’ and ‘luxury’, known for extreme ‘toughness’ and ‘ruggedness’ across terrains of the world for decades, it said, maintaining that the vehicle’s sale has surpassed 20 million from over 180 countries.
The Saturday’s launch ends the wait for many SUV aficionados looking to experience the vehicle on the tough roads of India, TKM noted, claiming that Hilux has been developed considering the “local conditions and requirements even as it stays true to its character.
The vehicle was launched in an event in the presence of Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) Chief Engineer Yoshiki Konishi;Toyota Regional Chief Engineer, Jurachart Jongusuk; TKM Managing Director, Masakazu Yoshimura; TKM Executive Vice President of Sales & Customer Service, Tadashi Asazuma and TKM General Manager of Strategic Business Unit Wiseline Sigamani.
As per the release, bookings for Toyota Hilux are open and Ex-showroom prices would be announced in March 2022 before starting the deliveries in April 2022.
Customers can either book the car online (www.toyotabharat.com) or visit their nearest Toyota dealership, it said.
Key features
Hilux is powered by 2.8 L Four Cylinder Turbo-Diesel Engine and available in an option of 6-Speed Automatic or 6-Speed Manual Transmission.
The Automatic Transmission (AT) variant provides segment-leading power of 204 hp & torque output of 500 Nm (Newton metres) while Manual Transmission (MT) variants generate 204 hp and 420 Nm.
All variants come with a 4X4 drivetrain enabling customers to engage in smooth off-roading, the release said.
Hilux features top safety features such as 7 SRS Airbags, Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Traction Control (TC) Electronic Systems to keep vehicle control under adverse weather & road conditions, TKM maintained.
Electronic Differential Lock (EDL), Automatic Hill Assist Control (HAC), Downhill Assist Control (DAC) and Automatic Limited Slip Differential (ALSD) ensure complete control for driver in any conditions, it said.
Other safety and security features include Trailer Sway Control; Emergency Brake Signal; Cruise Control, Shift Switch Sequential & Shift Lock System; Electrochromic IRVM; Reverse Parking Camera with Display in Audio; ISOFIX Child Seat Restraint System; Anti-Pinch Driver Side Power Window and so on.
First-in-segment features such as Drive modes options (Power & Eco), Tire Angle Monitor & Front Parking Sensors while the passenger can expect ‘utmost’ comfort inside with leather seats, dual zone fully automatic temperature control, smart entry and auto head lamps, it said.
An eight-inch infotainment table style screen with Android Auto/Apple CarPlay provides entertainment and connectivity, while large deck which provides unmatchable space and flexibility, it added.
Look-wise, the vehicle renowned for its sports a muscular bonnet line and piano black trapezoidal grille with thick chrome frame and comes with 18-inches alloy wheels with super chrome finish, as per the release. It is also fitted with Swept Back LED Headlights & LED Rear Combi-lamps with an night-time signature. Hilux is available in exciting colors – Emotional Red, White Pearl, Silver Metallic, Super White and Grey Metallic.
