TPO to hear land dispute case on Aug 8

Dimapur, August 4 (MExN): Mao and Angami organizations are to meet August 8 to decide the land dispute between the two communities, called the “Koziirii and Dziiko land issue” at the Tenyimi Public Organization’s office in Kohima. The Committee for Koziirii & Dziiko Land Boundary Resolution  has appealed to all Christians and churches to pray for “Koziirii and Dziiko land issue between the Maos and the Southern Angami People’s Organization”  to settle the case ‘rightly in the Christian attitude and mind.’
Call for prayer support over ‘Koziirii and Dziiko land issue’
According to a message form the committee the case is summoned for decision by the Tenyimi Peoples Organization customary court. The Mao Council, with 5 spokespersons from the committee members will be representing the Mao people. “So we request you to make 7th August 2011 (Sunday) to specifically pray for the issue. Make your own local program as convenient to you. (Whole day prayer, half day, fast or pray for whatever method you choose),” stated the message in appeal.
The committee said the Mao and the southern Angami as well as the neighboring communities are aware that there is land boundary disagreement between the two communities over Koziirii and Dziiko. “Frictions between the two communities flare up a couple of times without being able to settle the matter into a right and reasonable conclusion. Matters related to land boundary between communities is a serious matter and can’t be treated very lightly. And this situation should not prolong for too long so that unwanted happening should overtake both the communities,” the committee stated in its message.
“Christians as responsible citizens need to pray seriously seeking god’s wisdom and guidance to deal with the issue. The case will be settled according to the customary law and practice of the land and yet human errors cannot be ruled out,” the note said. The Mao people or the southern Angami people, any side, may ‘win’ the land by “Chacho Charii or mutual agreement” the committee stated. “But if the land is won unjustly, the winner’s may not receive God’s blessing and the absence of God’s blessings may also equal curse. We need not possess the land unjustly and stay with a curse from god, receiving God’s blessing is better than possessing the land with future posterity at stake.”
This principle may have the same measure of application to both the communities to live with God’s blessing and hopes of brighter future, it said. The Tenyimi People Organization will be mediating between the two communities after careful and thorough study of the case, the committee stated. The committee seeks prayers from all the Mao churches of any denomination.
