Mokokchung, November 17 (MExN): Training on guidelines of Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA) 2003 for Tobacco Task Force team was conducted at the Chief Medical Officer’s Conference Hall on November 17.
An update from the Chief Medical Officer’s Office stated that, Dr Taliwaba, District Nodal Officer (NTCP) welcomed the participants and explained the guidelines for law enforcers, for effective implementation of tobacco control laws.
Nukshiwati, Consultant (NTCP) presented a PowerPoint presentation on COTPA 2003 and other related tobacco control laws as well as its objectives, important sections of the Act, enforcement mechanism/authorized persons and their roles, prohibition of smoking in public places, the regulations under Section 6(a), prohibition of sale to minors below the age of 18 years and direction to authorized officers to enforce Section 5 & 7.
The training involved participants from Ao Kaketshir Mungdang, SDPO, Officer in charge Police station II, Food Safety, Deputy Chief Medical Officer, the release stated.
