Medziphema, February 7 (MExN): A two-day training programme on packaging of agricultural products, ‘packaging and technology for farmer producers companies and entrepreneurs of MOVCDNER’ was organised by the Department of Agriculture, Nagaland on February 7 and 8 at State Agricultural Extension & Management Institute (SAMETI), Medziphema
The inaugural programme was chaired by Dr James Chawang, Deputy Director, Department of Agriculture. Welcome address was delivered by N.Nataraj, Asst Director, Indian Institute of Packaging, Kolkata centre. Sanjay Kumar, PMU of MOVCDNER gave a brief note on the importance of Packaging of Agriculture Products and its technology for the FPO/FPC.
Key note address was given by Remphamo Lotha, Joint Director, Department of Agriculture .He gave an overview of the mission Organic Value Chain Development for North Eastern Region (MOVCDNER) in Nagaland.
Dr Watila Jamir, Principal IETC & Director SAMETI Incharge, Medziphema gave the vote of thanks.
Resource person for the training programme, N Nataraj Asst Director, Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP), Kolkata centre, spoke on basic concepts, principals and functions of packaging for agriculture products, flexible packaging–new trends for packaging of agriculture products, packaging of fruits and vegetables and packaging of spices.
The technical resource person Saroj Kumar Meher, Technical Officer, Indian Institute of Packaging, Kolkata centre spoke on corrugated Fibreboard Fox Transport pack for Agricultural products, Testing and Evaluation packaging materials used for products and to lay down optimum specification of plastic films and laminate for food industries.
