Wokha, April 22 (MExN): Awareness training for housekeeping staff of COVID-19 quarantine centres was held at Wokha town on April 22.
The resource person, Dr Kuokholie Savino, Medical Officer Wokha highlighted on the preparedness and containment of COVID-19. Dr Savino also demonstrated donning and doffing of Personal Protection Equipment as well as safe disposal of waste. District community mobilizer and media officer took sessions on handwashing techniques and stigmatization of COVID-19 patients.
Meanwhile, frontline workers across Wokha have been working to prevent and contain COVID-19 in the district. Entry of visitors in the district COVID-19 App, thermal screening, public announcements, poster campaigns and awareness at grassroots levels are being carried out by frontline workers with the help of various departments and village councils, a press release stated.
It said that the medical department in the district has been receiving donations in the form of food items and money for health units by communities and individuals. Community participation in Sanis area is notable as villagers are donating money, food items and accommodation for frontline workers as most of the health units do not have staff quarters, it said. The Sanis administration is also working hand in hand with medical officials to trace visitors and purchase of medicines required in the health units. Recently, thermal scanners were placed at entry points in Yampha and Satsuphen by medical department and the local legislator to screen passengers.
