Training on ‘scientific cultivation of cool season vegetable crops’ held

Dimapur, October 4 (MExN): AICRP (Vegetable Crops) Nagaland Centre, SASRD, NU under TSP (Tribal Sub Plan) conducted farmer’s training on ‘Scientific cultivation of cool season vegetable crops’ at adopted village Hekheshe.
In the technical sessions, Dr. Moakala Changkiri, Scientist, AICRP (VC) spoke on “Scientific cultivation of cool season vegetable crops” and Dr. Waluniba Scientist, AICRP (VC) delivered on “Insect pest management of cool season crops.”
Practical demonstration on seedling root dip method i.e. how to organically treat the seedlings with Trichoderma before transplanting was conducted which was followed by preparation of NSKE (Neem Seed Kernel Extract) and yellow sticky trap to be used against insect pest.
Hekheshe is an adopted village of AICRP-VC, SASRD, NU since 2016 and earlier vermicompost unit, mushroom unit and lime demonstration units were established in the village and farmers are being benefitted through TSP- AICRP (VC). Monitoring of demonstration units was headed by Dr. Aastik Jha Scientist, AICRP (VC), SASRD, NU.
Feedback was also collected from the farmers based on the earlier benefits they have received like seeds and other inputs provided by AICRP (VC) under TSP program.
A total of 80 farmers participated in the training where seeds of cool season vegetable crops like cabbage, coriander, tomato, radish, French bean and palak were distributed to all the farmer participants.
This training was coordinated by Prof. Akali Sema, Dr. Waluniba, Dr. Aastik Jha, Dr. Moakala Changkiri, Thungpenthung and Kheteho Chophy.
