DIMAPUR, MARCH 31 (MExN): The Tenyimi Students' Union Dimapur (TSUD) today appealed to all citizens to heed the call of authorities and stay at home in this time of the COVID-19 pandemic.
A press release issued by TSUD President, Rukewezo Wetsah and Finance Secretary, Pechesin Bukh
said that youths and students must educate close ones and neighbours to stay home and take precautions. “Every individual must be reminded that the lockdown is not a punishment but rather for their own protection and it is only by collective efforts that we can overcome this pandemic,” it stated.
It further asked people to make use of home delivery services which have been implemented in Kohima and Dimapur.
The TSUD asked students,as torchbearers of tomorrow “to show our resilience and strength and help our brothers and sisters who are out of schools by taking a few moments of the time everyday and help in their studies at home.”
It further said village councils and colony councils should identify thosedaily wage earners in their wards and ensure that they get the facilities and relief materials provided by the government.
It meanwhile lauded the efforts of the administration and the government and called for a cohesive and joint effort of all branches of the government in overcoming these difficult times.
The TSUD urged the government to quickly set up a COVID-19 testing center/centers in the State and to deliver essential commodities to those who live from hand to mouth through the village councils and colony councils.
It assured full cooperation to the administration in terms of volunteer work if safety equipment is provided.
The TSUD meanwhile asked the people “not to be bitter towards the government but to be responsible citizens and take the time to heal our broken relationships,have a fruitful fellowship with our family and above all pray to Our Almighty God.”
