Tuensang, March 12 (MExN): The Tuensang Police, in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Tuensang celebrated International Women’s Day (IWD) on March 8 with the theme, ‘Generation Equality’ at SP Conference Hall, Tuensang.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Tuensang, Bharat Laxman Markad, encouraged the women farmers and the entrepreneurs to take more part in decision making since they know more about the challenges and the opportunities in the field of agriculture.
He stated that women make essential contributions to agriculture and rural economic activities in all developing countries, and encouraged them to go for cultivation of cash crops so as to increase their economic income and improve their standards of living.
Awards were given to the best woman farmer of Tuensang, Chongki Chang of Chendang Village and the best women SHG, which was received by Flower Grower Society Tuensang.
The programme was followed by competition on salad making and fresh flower arrangement. A short seminar on nutritional gardening for household nutritional security was also presented by Dr Shisarenla Aier, SMS (Horticulture), KVK Tuensang.
Altogether 55 participants attended the programme along with officials from the Tuensang Police and KVK Tuensang.
