The Tenyimi Union Nagaland (TUN) adopted a four-point resolution at its first annual general session held at Angami Gazetted Officers’ Krotho (AGOK) Badze, Meriema, on June 23, reaffirming support for the Nagaland Tribal Hobos Coordination Committee (NTHCC), demanding action over the killing of six Nagas in Manipur and crimes against women and children, and support promotion of the Tenyidie language.

Among others, it welcomed the initiatives and endeavour of the NTHCC in “fostering Naga unity and brotherhood for protecting and safeguarding the rights, interests and aspirations of the Naga people.”

The TUN also strongly condemned the killing of six Nagas in Manipur's Kangpokpi district, alleging that they were murdered “in an unimaginable, ruthless and inhuman manner by heartless Kuki militants.”

Accordingly, it demanded that the Governments of Manipur and India, along with law enforcement agencies, immediately identify and arrest those responsible and ensure that they are awarded the highest punishment permissible under the law.

“Delay in delivering justice may invite serious repercussion,” the resolution stated.

Expressing grave concern over the rising incidence of crimes against women and children in the State, the Union stated: “We are of the view that the inability of the law enforcing agencies to deliver justice in time is directly encouraging criminals involved in perpetrating these heinous crimes.”

The Union further demanded swift justice in every case of sexual abuse against women and children.

In another resolution, TUN appreciated the efforts of Ura Academy in promoting and developing the Tenyidie language up to the university level, including postgraduate and PhD programmes.

It further resolved to extend its full support to Ura Academy in promoting and developing Tenyidie as a medium of communication among the Tenyimi communities in particular and the Nagas in general.

The Resolution Committee Convenor Khinyi Woch presented the resolutions, which were unanimously adopted by the house.
