Wokha, August 16 (MExN): The Janata Dal United (JDU) Nagaland today charged the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Government of trying the delay the elections to the Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) despite a clear direction from the Apex Court of the country.
Since Assembly election is due by February 2023, it is very exigent that elections to ULB must be held within this year, stated the JDU in a press release from its General Secretary Kitoho S Rotokha.
“On this issue, the JDU Nagaland has made up its stand while demanding to the UDA to announce the schedule for the said elections,” it said.
Since the present dispensation is unmoved, the JDU has decided to start a democratic process of agitation to demand for conduct of the ULB at the earliest, it added.
It started with Poster Campaign commencing from August 16 and the party further appealed all “conscious citizens of the State to give cooperation so as to compel the UDA Government to heed to the voice of the people whom they represent.”
