Ukhrul | September 18 : People, time and things of this world change but the words of Christ and Himself never change, exhorted visiting American pastor Dr. Richard Jacob in the Phungyo Baptist Church Ukhrul in Manipur state on September 11, 2011.
The pastor preached God's call to the people through Jesus Christ as stated in the book of Isaiah 1:18. The pastor narrated that Isaiah, from a rich family, was called by God to God's messenger and through him the Almighty told the Judah people not to live in sin. The people did not listen to the God's words, the preacher said. In 722 BC the Assyrians took-over the Northern Kingdom of Israel. God warned Israel not to follow after them, but the people did not listen, the preacher said. Referring to these events the pastor referred to verse 18: "come now let us reason together".
God knows the reluctance and the sinful behavior, the burden, the financial burdens, health, family problems and “economic blockade problems” of the people, the pastor said. Yet, he said referring to the words in Matthew 11:28: "Come unto me, ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I'll give you rest unto your souls."
He also referred to the disobedience of the people in spite of all the good things God blessed them with. The people in Noah's time were living in sins and they also did not listen to God which invited the Almighty’s wrath, Pastor Jacob stated. ‘Thus in Genesis &:1 "And the Lord said unto Noah, come, thou and all thy house into the ark, for these have I seen righteous before me in this generation". Noah built the ark for 120 years. People came and asked Noah what he was doing. People thought Noah was mad. But Noah said, "there’s going to be rain, flood you too come in, but people did not listen to him.’
Dr. Richard also narrated an incident. A Canadian missionary asked him a question: “Mr. Richard if you are going to die to night, do you know where you are going?” He recalled the answered: “Yes, I may be in heaven as I am a good man, I go to church everyday without knowing that very time who Jesus is, till Jesus came into his heart and found the real joy of happiness.”
Pastor Jacob said ‘God is very big and in front of Him we are like an ants yet God created mankind so big and so loved his creation that He gave His only son Jesus Christ as stated in John 3:16. “God knows the names of each and every countless stars, He knows the names of every person in the world, and He knows how many rooms in your house, how many people in your family, brothers and sisters. How wonderful God He is,” the pastor preached.
The pastor said God still wait for His people even when their sins become like scarlet. ‘He is always waiting to forgive everyone and He said even if your father, mother forsakes you, He will never and He will take you. Oh! What a wonderful God He is.”
The pastor then gave the altar call inviting all in the congregation who believe in Jesus Christ to raise their hands. The pastor then prayed and asked for blessings upon them and the congregation as well.
