As a gesture of an author supporting another author, ‘The Unfinished Story’ by Wedekhro Naro was formally released today by Nzan Kikon, author of two novels namely, The Starry Night and The Unlikely Indians.

‘The Unfinished Story’ is about a village bred boy who moves from his native village Chizami to Kohima and eventually to Mumbai, Kuwait, and in between travels to places like the Bahamas, Bangkok and Dubai in search of love and himself, and addresses issues of addiction and alcohol and also highlights pre-marital sex and abortion, which the author says are issues faced by the young generation of Nagaland, but are rarely talked about openly.

In a conversation with the author and the formal release of the book at the Heritage, Wedekhro Naro said that the book tells of everyday stories of ordinary local people and written in very simple words.

The protagonist of the book, who is Wedekhro himself is about a boy who grew up in the village and first came to Kohima in 2009 and was overwhelmed to see the population of cars and people alike. Talking more about the book, he said the boy moves to Mumbai to work and falls in love online and does not last. In this regard, he stated that this is a reality in today's generation. “If the internet dies, relationships also die”, he said.

The book, he added is also about the struggle of fighting addiction and alcohol while putting across that “when you look at the reality of Naga society, we are all dying inside” and indicating that we are failing to address these issues.
Formally releasing the book, Nzan Kikon applauded Wedekhro Naro for boldly bringing out issues like these to the fore and especially for being very bold in presenting his stories in a manner that no Naga writer has ever done before.

‘The Unfinished Story’ is the 28th publication of PenThrill Publication House. The conversation was moderated by Aduo Solo while Dr. Esther Krocha said the prayer.

Wedekhro Naro is a waiter by profession and a writer by heart. He currently works at the Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts in Kuwait and previously worked with the JW Marriott Hotels in Mumbai. An alumni of The People Channel, Dimapur and Third Eye College, Guwahati, he graduated in English Literature from Kohima College, Kohima, and did his schooling from Sacred Heart Higher Secondary School, Chizami, and G.M Government High School, Chizami.

‘The Unfinished Story’ is his second book. His debut book 'True Love Keeps Moving' was published in the year 2018. The newly released book will be available at CROSSWORD, Bible House, Chaprù, Gutouch, OM Bookstore Dimapur, Fusion Store Dimapur and online at www.ilandlo.com.
