Dimapur, December 17 (MExN): The Nagaland Baptist Pastors’ Union (NBPU) has expressed grief over the robbery of December 9, 2011 at Church Road, Dimapur where the youth pastor and cashier of Longleng Town Baptist Church were robbed by some unknown youths.
NBPU secretary Hamba Nemdakly in a condemnation note said it was learnt that the two church workers were travelling in an auto-rickshaw. The robbers in a Maruti Gypsy bearing No. AS 25 C 9421 overtook and stopped them. In spite of identifying themselves as church workers and as church workers and on church work the robbers had no compunction and robbed them at gunpoint.
It is a matter of great concern that things like these are becoming more and more blatant. The lack of conscience where even matters regarded as sacred are disregarded reveals how low we have fallen as a society, which leaves society in general in a very vulnerable state. The Union also prayed that “the perpetrators would realize their wrongdoings and turn to God for mercy.”
The Phom Union Kohima (PUK) had also taken exception to the broad daylight robbery of Longleng Town Baptist Church’s money on December 9 in Dimapur right in the heart of the city. “Church’s money is people’s hard earned sanctified money to use for the glory of God alone and the manner how it was robbed was likened to be premeditated one,” PUK President, C. Danted Phom stated in a condemnation note. PUK has strongly condemned the crime and urge the law enforcing authorities to thoroughly investigate and bring the culprits to book.
