Dimapur, February 7 (MExN): Unity College, Dimapur observed Swachhta Pakhwada 2020 from January 16 to 31. Various activities were conducted to spread awareness on the importance of cleanliness and the steps to be undertaken which will help in contributing towards a clean environment.
The College in a press release stated that the students pledged to commit towards cleanliness and devote time in making India a clean country. Cleanliness and plantation drives were also conducted in and around the college campus under the initiative of Student Council and Eco Club, Unity College.
Cleanliness drive was carried out with participation from the College hostel girls under the supervision of the hostel warden on January 25. ‘A Talk show on Swachhta -Personal, Mental, Environmental, and Societal was to create awareness among Students on all aspects of Swachhta. At the end of the Swacchta Talk show an interactive session was held with the Students to help them positively contribute in the implementation process.
On January 27, Eco Club Unity College organized a speech, slogan and poster competition under the themes: water conservation and forest conservation. The competition was conducted with the aim to stress on the importance of conserving our water and forest resources which is vital for our own survival.
The programme was led by Assuvi Zhimo, Asst Prof, Department of Education and the competition was judged by Lumchirhoni Tungoe, Asst Prof Department of Education, Sadamyanger, Asst Prof Department of English and Kikruneino Sachu, Asst Prof, Department of EVS.
The winners for speech competition were Subhana Rahman and Aloto T Sumi; slogan competition winners were Laxmi Giri and Zuchobeni Erui; and the poster competition winners were Chingyapalm, Pongjilemba and Kenyuylunlo Seb.
