Vibrant Cultural Programme held at Longwa village

Kohima, November 16 (MExN): A Vibrant Cultural Programme was held at Indo-Myanmar village- Longwa under Mon District on November 15 last. The event was organized by North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC) in collaboration with Art & Culture Department, Government of Nagaland under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

The programme aimed to foster cultural exchange, unity, and preservation of indigenous identity among border communities located near the international boundaries of China, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Bhutan, alongside the eight Northeastern states of India.

Gracing the occasion as the guest of honour, Er Thanyalo Kath, Sub-Divisional Officer, Power Department, Mon, highlighted the importance of sustaining traditional values, cultural expressions, and inter-community relationships.

He appreciated the efforts of NEZCC and the Art & Culture Department in organizing the programme in such a strategically significant location.

The programme was marked by series of cultural showcases, featuring traditional dance and music. Six cultural performances were presented by troupes from Longwa Village and Nyahnyu Village, reflecting the rich heritage, identity, and artistic legacy of the region.

Each performance brought forward the distinct rhythm, attire, and folklore unique to the communities, according to Teisovikuolie Therie, Deputy Director cum Nodal Officer, Art and Culture Department, Nagaland.

Earlier, an introductory message was delivered by Peter Thanghoi Thai, District Cultural Officer, Mon, who outlined the purpose and significance of the programme under the Vibrant Villages initiative, emphasizing cultural preservation and community engagement in remote border areas.

The inaugural ceremony was chaired by W. Kaiwang Konyak, Assistant Research Officer, Art & Culture Department, Mon while S Yona, Pastor, Longwa Baptist Church prayed for the programme.
