Villages in Kiphire district still do not have bank, ATM facilities

Bank and ATM booth facilities are not available to any village under Kiphire district, according to the survey report on Local/Block Level Statistics for Local Level Planning 2020, published by Directorate of Economics & Statistics, Nagaland.

The Survey on Local/Block Level Statistics for Local Level Planning is conducted under the Support for Statistical Strengthening scheme during 2019-2020 emphasised on the major basic amenities available covering all the recognized villages of the rural development department.

Kiphire district has five blocks with 93 villages, all of which have road connectivity and mobile phone service, the report stated.

As on 31st January 2020, Amikioro village under Khongsa block is the only village in the district without electricity.

About 4% of the state’s government bus and close to 4 % of the state’s private bus are available to the villages in the district. Also, nearly 42 % of the villages in Kiphire district have access to taxi service.

There is no landline phone service in the district. However, mobile phone service is available by all 93 villages of Kiphire district. Postal service covers close to 28 % of the villages.

In terms of educational facility, the report stated that 6.6 % of the state’s Government Primary School, 5.5 % of Government Middle School and Government High School and 6.2 % of Government Higher Secondary School are in Kiphire district. The state’s total share of private educational institution located in the district is 1.5%.

About 32% of the villages in this district have the facility of Sub Centre, 4.3% of the same have Primary Health Centre. However, there is no Community Health Centre or Private Clinic/Hospital available in the villages of Kiphire district.

2% of its villages have Veterinary Health Centre, while 10.7% of the same have village library.

Village Council Hall is an amenity available to nearly 70% of the villages in this district and about 78% of the same have playground facility.

Out of the total number of the state’s indoor stadium, 2.8% are available in the villages of Kiphire district and 25.8% of villages have marketing shed.

The report also stated that close to 85% of its villages have Anganwadi Centre and fair price shop are available to about 90% of the same.

Water Supply (PHED) is available to 94.6% of the villages in Kiphire district and 54.8% of the same have public toilet.

The state’s share of police station located in village under this district is 2.8 % and the same for police beat post is 4.5 %.

5.3% of villages have the facility of Common Service Centre, 97.8% of the same have Self Help Group and 9.6% have street light.
