WAR OR PEACE

There was suspicious Peace between the Moghul Emperor Auranzeb and the Mahrattas. The Emperor arranged a Peace Meeting with the Mahratta Leader Shivaji. It was agreed the Moghul General Afzal Khan would meet the Mahratta Leader Shivaji unarmed and in peace. But both the sides were suspicious of the other and despite prior commitment to peace, went to the meeting with concealed secret arms in their bodies. History records the expected peaceful meeting ended in loss of life.

Failure to keep Commitment in human beings is a great blot in the quality of the man or the organization. People do not seriously take a person or an Organization that does not keep Commitments.

During the great friendship between India and the Soviet Union, the latter ordered huge quantities of Shoes from India on the basis of commitment to supply the Item in conformity with the quality of the approved Sample. But the consigned materials were of inferior quality than the committed. The Soviet Union returned all the consigned packages. India suffered great loss of face.

Nothing is more disgusting in man than failure to keep commitments. How seriously do the political Groups in Nagaland view their Commitments? The LTTE attempted to smuggle in Arms from foreign countries while in peace negotiations with the Government of Sri Lanka. The Sri Lankan Government ultimately refused negotiation in spite of great pressures from the UN Members for peaceful negotiation to end the conflict.

Failure to keep commitment in times of War or in times of truce Peace has disastrous consequences.

The recent lost of life in the armed Camps is very unfortunate not only for the FNR alone, which hurriedly brokered a peace meeting on the strength of an agreement to FNR’s demand for “cessation of all armed confrontation” from the Parties, but also for all Nagas.

War or Peace, armed Cadres or verbose civilians, Can a Naga commitment be trusted?
