Kohima, January 29 (MExN): A workshop on accounts and auditing was held at Water Resource Department, Kohima on January 29.

A DIPR report stated here that the Chief Engineer, Water Resources Department, Tsuktinungsang in his introduction speech mentioned that in order to get acquainted with the new chapters of accounting, the department need to get trained and in tune with the norms and direction of the Government of India to deliver clarity and transparency from the department.

Lamenting on the outdated system of accounting, he mentioned that the department was facing a number of problem in the accounts section as the earlier system of maintaining ‘Civil System of Accounts’ was not compatible to their field of activities and bills couldn’t be provided in real time so it gets clashed with the billing system. Eventually the department progressed and in time ‘Performa bill’ were suggested for better performing of the audit system and with the PIFMS mode in action the department excluded the civil system of billings to process in a systematic way to deal with the new projects, he added.

He encouraged the trainees to share their opinion and views as well as clarify their doubts and deliberate on how to smoothen the process of accounting.

Later in the programme, resource person Sr Audit Officer, Haridasan TK gave a detailed slide on accounts and auditing and Performa bill system.
