Dimapur, August 29 (MExN): The Western Chakhesang Hoho (WCH) and Chakhesang Youth Front (CYF) have condemned the act of Assam Police which led to the alleged custodial death of Henveih Phom. The WCH in a press release stated that the government law enforcing agencies are to protect the citizens and take actions whenever found guilty according to the law of the land but instead has become agent who murdered the citizen. The WCH demanded that strict action be befitted upon the erring personnel and justice be delivered to the bereaved family at the earliest.
The CYF in a separate press release said that no matter what the allegations might be, the custodians of the law have no right to kick under the carpet the basic human rights of a person to satiate their bestial urges. “The CYF together with our Phom community demand an immediate and impartial inquiry into the custodial death of the Phom Naga youth, so that justice and dignity of the victim is restored to the family of the victim,” it stated.
