The NPF Central Youth Wing reiterated its support to the leadership of the party president, Dr Shürhozelie Liezietsu and NPF legislature party leader TR Zeliang, and resolved to re-strengthen the party leadership to carry forward the party legacy of “Peace and Development for the Naga people.”

In a five point resolution adopted during the party’s leadership meet under the theme ‘Catalyst for Peace’ on November 18-19 at State Academy Hall, Kohima, it also acknowledged the formation of United Democratic Alliance (UDA), an opposition-less government in Nagaland to facilitate the Indo-Naga peace process and to push forward the Naga political issue to a peaceful and honourable solution.

In this regard, it has appealed all Naga national political groups to resolve their differences and come together for a logical conclusion to the Indo-Naga political talks at the earliest.

Besides, NPF, being the party, deeply rooted in the Naga society across the boundaries of Naga homeland, the NPF youth wing reiterated its ‘resolute commitment’ for the upcoming  Manipur State General Election in 2022 and Nagaland State General election in 2023.

While resolving to focus more on youth empowerment activities, and also work towards bringing more youths in the political decision making bodies, the NPF Central Youth Wing has also decided to continue organising youth wing leaders’ meet at least once in every tenure of the NPF office.

Speaking on the theme, Dr Lorho S Pfoze, MP (LS), Outer Manipur, Parliamentary Constituency called upon the NPF youth to be torch bearers of peace in the state and beyond.

Mentioning about the decades long struggle of Naga political issue, Pfoze questioned if the Naga people were losing faith 25 years of talks. He asked the people to keep the faith that God would definitely fulfil what He has designed and envisioned for the Naga people.

He also urged the party youth inculcate the theme in themselves and be agents of peace despite the various challenges each one will encounter in their lives.

In his short speech, MLA Dr Chumben Murry maintained that the progress and development in the state has been stunted due to the decades long unresolved political issue which has created negativity and mistrust among the people. He challenged the youth not to turn a blind eye to the future as they have a lot to do.

While stating that Nagas, at this point of time have become ‘solution Fatigue' he also expressed disappointment that “even as our leaders are walking the extra mile for Naga solution, here in the state, Nagas have become so silent. Instead of having rallies for solution, we are having rallies to protest shifting of a particular office.”

Describing three categories of youth in the society as ‘fools, naive and leaders’, Murry observed that many young people with degrees cannot relate their root to the tumultuous Naga people affairs in the past and are less sensitive to the future.

With peace as a prerequisite for growth and development, he maintained that the party youth should not be confined to the four walls of NPF structure but venture into other areas to or geographic and emotional integration.

MLA Kuzholuzo Nienu, in-charge of NPF-CYW stated matter-of-factly that peace eludes the Nagas because of disunity as Nagas are full of ‘ism.’

While pointing out that at present ‘everybody is for himself and his own tribe’, he maintained that unless the ‘ism’ is weeded out Nagas cannot live and work as a whole.

The leadership meet concluded with the adoption of the five-point resolution.
