With 3 functional depts, RBI opens sub-office in Nagaland

Kohima, June 13 (MExN): The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) today opened its sub-office in Nagaland capital Kohima with three functional departments.

RBI Deputy Governor Dr Michael Debabrata Patra inaugurated the sub-office located at Tachu Enclave New Secretariat - High Court Junction Road Kohima. The sub-office is headed by Paresh Chauhan, General Manager (Officer-inCharge).

With this, the RBI has further expanded its presence in the north-eastern region (NER) to Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Tripura and Nagaland, informed on official statement. 

The RBI’s office in Guwahati will continue to cater to the needs of the state of Arunachal Pradesh till the Reserve Bank’s office in Itanagar is opened, which is expected shortly, it added.  According to the RBI, the sub-office in Kohima has three functional departments: Financial Inclusion and Development Department (FIDD), Consumer Education and Protection Cell (CEPC), and Market Intelligence Cell and Human Resource Management Department (HRMD). 

The currency management for the state of Nagaland will continue to be conducted by the RBI’s office in Guwahati, it added.
