Wokha, December 11 (MExN): The Wokha District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) monthly meeting was held on December 10 at Deputy Commissioner’s conference hall, Wokha. The Deputy Commissioner, Wokha chaired the meeting. Advisor Horticulture, Mhathung Yanthan and MLA Dr Chumben Murry attended the meeting.
A DIPR report stated that during the meeting, deliberating on the action plan in regard to the four selected aspirational villages under Wokha district, the Chairman reviewed the schemes and programme submitted by Head of Offices to be taken up in the four selected villages. The chairman stated that the objective of adopting the villages is to make them socially and economically empowered, where he urged all departments to ensure that the plans are effectively carried out in the right manner for the success of the plan.
The Board approved for opening of Queen Mary’s College at Longsa Village (Arts Stream). District Evaluation Officer, Wokha presented power point highlighting their departmental activities and programme. Chairman DPDB Wokha requested the department to take pro-active role to study the various schemes and programme implemented in the district. Yanthan also urged to take up extensive evaluation study VDB activities under MNREGA in the district which was suggested by MLA Dr Chumben Murry.
Later, DPDB members along with Witter Theological College, (WTC) Vankhosung, jointly celebrated Advent Christmas at the Mhomo Chapel hall WTC.
Speaking as guest of honour at the celebration, Advisor, Horticulture and Border Affairs, Nagaland and Chairman DPDB, Wokha, Mhathung Yanthan thanked the DPDB members for rendering support and cooperation for successful implementation of developmental initiatives for the purpose of serving the people and for running the affairs of the district within their respective capacities throughout the year.
Observing that the Witter Theological College has set a benchmark of success with regard to academic excellence and developmental progress in a record time, he expressed confidence that the college is set to achieve greater goals under the abled and visionary leaders who are involved in the progressive growth of the college.
DC and Vice Chairman DPDB Wokha, Orenthung Lotha, the special guest, greeting the advent celebrants called on them to make Christmas more meaningful in the lives of others by reaching out to them with the truth and purpose of Christmas.
Chairman, Board of Governors, WTC, Mhonchumo Erui, Associate Pastor, Kohima Lotha Baptist Church, was the speaker.
Speaking on the topic, ‘Don't miss Christmas’, he encouraged everyone to priorities the presence of the saviour by inviting him to be born in one's heart and allow him to take a centre stage of one's life.
Earlier in the programme, Dr. Moanungsang Principal, WTC, welcomed the celebrants to the programme which was concluded with carol singing, gift exchange and a Christmas feast.
