Wokha, November 15, (MExN): Tenyimia Church Wokha celebrated its Golden Jubilee with the theme ‘Proclaim liberty throughout the land (Leviticus 25:10),’ from November 13 to 14.
The speakers of the Jubilee programme were Rev Dr Atsi Dolie, President, Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) and Rev Dr Vevozo Khamo, Vice President, Nagaland Christian Revival Church (NCRC).To mark the celebration, a monolith was unveiled by Rev Dr Atsi Dolie at the church premise on Sunday.
Speaking at the Golden Jubilee programme, Rev Dolie congratulated the church for reaching the milestone and underlined that the spiritual significance of Jubilee is to have a relationship with Jesus. The NBCC President lamented the presence of ‘cultural bondage and practical atheism’ in the society. He also called upon th e members to proclaim liberty and be thankful for the sacrifice Jesus has made.
Rev Dr Vezovo Khamo stated that Jubilee is a time to reminisce on the past, look into the present as well as the future and practice faith more deeply. He also released a souvenir, commemorating the celebration.
The Tenyimia Church Wokha Jubilee Choir and Bright Morning Star Children Home from Kohima presented special numbers during the two day event.
Kesalhoukho Casavi, Convenor, Jubilee Organising Committee, conveyed his gratitude to all the members and well wishers for their active participation and contribution in making the Golden Jubilee celebration a success. He acknowledged the pioneers of the Tenyimia Church Wokha which was initiated in 1971, for their pivotal role in laying the foundation of the church.
Late LibemoTungoe and his wife Tuonuo, KC Angami, M Reito Iralu and his wife Metsiu were actively involved during the early years of Tenyimia Church which now have members from various denominations and Tenyimia tribes, he added.
Casavi informed that the present church site was purchased from Samuel Lotha in 1971 and the church building was dedicated in 1980. KuthotsoTunyi, Pastor, Tenyimia Church Wokha, said that it was a blessing to be a part of the historic event and thanked Almighty God for the historic celebration.
The jubilee was attended by hundreds of church leaders, well wishers, past and present Tenyimia Church members.
